About Tara

Tara Furges Houston is a Broker Associate with eXp Realty, where she is the former State Broker for the District of Columbia (DC) and Maryland (MD); as well as the former State Compliance Broker for Virginia (VA).  Now, she works, alongside her husband Michael, leading the Legacy Builders Global agent partner group of eXp Realty with a gross sales volume of over $100MM a year! Tara and Michael are trainers, mentors, and coaches for their personal agent group as well as agents and brokers across the country. Their mission is to help agents and brokers build better businesses to live better lives.  

Prior to becoming a full-time entrepreneur, Tara served as an educator for over 20 years in roles such as Teacher, Principal, and College Professor.  She has a documented success of using creative teaching methods to ensure participants leave her classes and workshops energized and empowered with knowledge. Tara is the lead instructor and trainer at HCG for Pre-licensing and CE courses for DC, MD, and VA; is a Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist (CLHMS); and has her Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS), Performance Management Network (PMN), Accredited Staging Partner Real Estate Agent (ASP-RE®),  At Home with Diversity (AHWD), Pricing Strategy Advisor (PSA), and Global Elite Agent (GE) certifications and/or designations. 

Tara was the 2019 President of the Women's Council of REALTORS® Northern Virginia Metro, and the 2020 Virginia State Women's Council of REALTORS® Bylaws & Standing Rules Committee Chairperson. Women's Council's mission to advance women as business leaders in the industry and in the communities they serve resonates with Tara as she seeks to empower everyone around her. While her real estate expertise is in Luxury Homes and Global Real Estate, Tara has a passion of helping everyone with whom she connects - buyers, sellers, and agents - build their unique legacies in real estate!
