About Terry

Learning and Serving:

I am a highly experienced REALTOR® and am driven by learning and serving and strive to provide the best education and experience for my clients. My work ethic began a long time ago when I was a child. I had multiple paper routes and delivered the absolute best service I could to the Kelowna residents on my routes. After graduating from high school, I moved to the big city of Vancouver and began a career in sales and management in the Auto Parts industry, helping people with their car problems and inspiring my staff to be the best they could be. I also served the Community of Fort Langley as a Firefighter and helped the victims of many incidents. I also spent many years in the construction industry, wearing the tools as well as being a project manager. Our jobs took me across North America and I was able to experience work on small home renovations, all the way up to massive power plant containment projects. I understand how homes are put together and can identify issues that will come up in an inspection. I will happily tell you not to buy that home when the quality of the product does not align with the Seller’s price expectations.

I went to the University of British Columbia and studied Landscape Architecture. I can draw pretty well now (ha ha)  but more importantly, I have a deeper understanding of how humans relate to the spaces they occupy and why good design matters when you buy a home.

Why Skills Matter:

The real estate industry only requires individuals to pass a single exam to become licensed. This means that licensees will have a huge variety of skills and abilities when they start in the industry as well as how they educate themselves over the course of their career.  This can sometimes be challenging for the general public to understand who to choose to represent them with this extremely complex and costly task of buying and selling real estate. Evaluating the skill level of any Agent requires some homework by the client and should not be taken lightly. Discovering what kind of services you will be receiving during this evaluation process is critical as there are many different business models being offered.

The Industry:

The real estate industry has a history of publicly measuring Agents by the number of transactions they complete and how much gross revenue they generate. You see this every year when the awards are handed out and then advertised across the various platforms. Member of the Medallion Club, #1 Agent in sales, etc. These awards are industry-specific and most consumers really don’t understand what they mean or really even care, right? I have an extensive list of these types of awards but receiving these do not motivate me. Ensuring that your needs are understood and your expectations exceeded, that is what’s really important.

Giving Back:

RE/MAX and I have always believed in giving back to the community and the industry. The Children’s Miracle Network (CMN)  is our charity of choice. I make a donation every time I get the privilege to help someone buy or sell so when you choose to work with me, you also choose to support the CMN. I also feel it’s very important to help elevate the real estate industry as a whole. I do this by teaching at the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver to help other agents improve their skills. I also do this through my Mentor and Coaching programs where I help new and experienced Agents become better at helping their clients. I am a member of the Technology Committee at the Okanagan Mainline Real Estate Board where I help evaluate the latest tools for our Agents. I have also participated in numerous community committees and strata councils, helping people make decisions that enabled them to enjoy better lives.
