I attended Dan and Julie Ihara’s senior living seminar years ago, to consider options for my mother, then in her 90’s. Besides understanding my mother’s alternatives, I was very impressed with Dan’s achievements in real estate, and his team’s approach to preparing, grooming and staging a home for market. Later, in early 2011, my unmarried brother died. As his Personal Representative, I was responsible for the sale of his home, which was in an extreme state of disrepair and neglect. Dan’s team undertook the enormous task of repairing and landscaping this seemingly abandoned property. Almost like a general contractor, they obtained proposals and selected several contractors in various specialties, some for unusual structural problems. The team met with many contractors, evaluated proposals, and provided their recommendations, which I readily accepted. This was done without my time and effort of commuting from Mililani to Hawaii Kai, which would have been ordinarily expected. Besides, I did not know what contractors to contact, nor the expertise and confidence for proper selection. I had complete trust in the team, knowing contractors staked their reputations and probable repeat business with a realtor. The team even shopped for appliances and accepted delivery, with my only part being to accept their recommendations. My sisters and I were amazed with the transformation of this derelict home into a model home. Dan sold the home in record time, at a little above asking price which I thought too ambitious. My sisters and I remain grateful for the Ihara team’s time and effort in going way beyond the usual, in the transformation and sale of my brother’s home.
