About Helene

I began a career in real estate in 2006 and by the end of 2007 was one of the most successful realtors in the Baton Rouge area. That type of success requires a keen understanding of real estate values, mastery of technology, and a passion for excellence. But even more important is my commitment to provide clients with honest and informed advice and the highest level of customer service possible. For me, success is not only measured in the number of homes sold and the dollar value of those transactions. It's also the number of clients who have asked me to represent them in multiple transactions and refer me to friends and family. That's really the highest compliment a client can give.

I've been a manager, a director, and a consultant to Fortune 50 companies. Before beginning a career in real estate I was also the Chief Information Officer and Chief Strategist for one of the area’s largest hospitals. More recently I have served on an Agent Leadership Council, chaired the MLS User Committee, and have been a member of the MLS Committee for the Greater Baton Rouge Association of Realtors. I also enjoy being a guest speaker at other brokerages where I share my expertise and learn from other realtors.

I specialize in neighborhoods close to Louisiana State University, South Baton Rouge, and adjoining communities in Ascension and Livingston Parishes. I represent buyers and sellers, helping them through each step in the sale or purchase process. When clients choose to work with me, they work with me personally. They are not turned over to a team member or to an assistant. I listen carefully and match their needs with market opportunities.

I have an undergraduate degree in Economics and a master's degree in Business Administration from Cornell University. Previous employers include Xerox Corporation, PepsiCo, Westat (a Washington, DC consulting firm), and Woman's Hospital. I am licensed to sell real estate in Louisiana and am a member of the Greater Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and National Associations of Realtors.  In 2015 I became a member of the Institute for Luxury Home Marketing and subsequently earned the Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist designation.

I've lived in Baton Rouge since 1992 with my husband, Richard Kurtz, who is on the faculty at Louisiana State University and Director of LSU's Center for Advanced Microstructures and Devices. Our son, Brian, graduated from LSU in 2012 and LSU's Medical School in 2016.  He is an Anesthesiology Resident at University of Texax Southwestern in Dallas.  Our daughter, Laura, graduated from LSU's School of Architecture in 2017 and works at Bercy Chen Studio in Austin. We couldn't be prouder parents.
