In our experience, they are usually not worth the money and do not provide enough insight into the things that really matter when purchasing a home or property. For example, just showing up and opening the door does not justify a 6% commission our view, and only wanting one thing out of the deal becomes very evident, very early on in the search process. That being said, there are those few exceptions you run across once in a blue moon, and such is the case with one person we’ve been working with on and off for over 20 years. Her name is Debbie Bacarella, and she resides and works out of South Florida. I recall my first experience with Debbie, and it just so happens it was also my very first home buying experience. We had looked at many properties, but in the middle of the process I had to have surgery which put me out of commission for several days. Debbie picked me up at my home and helped me get into and out of her car as we continued our search. Knowing how painfully it was for me to get in and out of the car, she would offer to tour the property while I waited in the car, and only if she thought it was worth our while did I join her in viewing those properties. She never complained about my indecision, or my situation at the time, she just kept searching until we found the right home. Twenty years later, my wife and I decided to relocate from Atlanta and look for a place in south Florida. We didn’t hesitate a second when it came to who we would trust with our new home search…… We called Debbie and much to our delight she picked up the phone on the first try and we quickly got caught up on life’s many twists and turns. Not surprising, Debbie’s career progression has been very impressive, and she has owned her own successful brokerage firm, is a partner and coach at Keller Williams, and was awarded the prestigious Blue Diamond Award multiple years, among many other awards. She keeps herself busy and stays current and connected in the real estate world, as well as with her community. Debbie met us in Florida, and we started out search in Fort Lauderdale and worked out way up the coast to Jupiter. Just as I remembered, she was on time, VERY prepared and willing to work from early morning to late at night to find the right property for us. We are still searching, but I’m confident she will find the right place in the right town, and she absolutely won’t give up until we find something we love.
