When we put our Kona property up for sale, we had decided to do a 1031 exchange for a rental property on O'ahu. We did not have a realtor here, so I asked our financial planner and accountant for a referral. Without hesitation, she highly recommended D'Arcy Kerrigan. Our search for a replacement property began right away. However, we did not get an offer on the Kona property for over a year. D'Arcy patiently continued to guide us in our search as we waited for the 1031 clock to begin running. This time was not wasted, as she educated us about the real estate market, as well as what we could expect with the 1031. She let us know as soon as properties became available and we met at numerous open houses on Sunday afternoons. She also arranged for several private showings with her numerous realtor contacts. When we finally got an offer on Kona that we accepted, we felt that we were fully prepared for the 1031 exchange. But finding that right property was a challenge. Out first accepted offer looked like a great deal until the house inspection revealed it to be a nightmare. We asked D'Arcy to retract our offer. As our 1031 deadline approached, we made another offer which we finally decided was not right for us. We were difficult clients, but there was not a hint of a complaint from D'Arcy. Throughout the whole experience, D'Arcy had nothing but our interests at heart. We finally found the right property and closed the deal. When it was over, we knew we had worked with the right realtor. Her decades of experience in the O'ahu real estate market served us very well on several occasions. Her longstanding relationships with title companies, mortgage brokers, house inspectors, handymen, etc. resulted in the recommendations for professional, expedient assistance that we needed. D'Arcy usually knew, or knew of the listing agent. This contributed to her effectiveness when it was time to negotiate. Above all, D'Arcy acted with integrity.
