Barrie has lived in New England (New Hampshire, Cambridge, Boston), California, Colorado, and Lebanon (Middle East) and traveled extensively throughout Mexico & Central America. Barrie was an avid NASTAR (ski) racer in her youth. She has also hiked the Continental Divide, and to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, and attended over 15 different schools in her lifetime.

Barrie worked with Coldwell Banker on Newbury Street in the mid-1980's. She went on to pursue a Master's degree and worked for Little, Brown & Company, Publishers on Beacon Hill, and also worked in the corporate world as a Director of Corporate Services & Communications with a nationwide healthcare organization. Barrie has also run her own consulting company overseas among other exciting ventures.
