About Margie

Margie Sorrell is a Lake Oconee, Georgia REALTOR® with Coldwell Banker Lake Oconee Realty, specializing in luxury waterfront and golf community homes on every side of the lake. She is the only Lake Oconee REALTOR® who was born here, at Minnie G. Boswell Hospital in Greensboro, and she has sold Lake Oconee real estate since 2010.

Margie earned a journalism degree from the University of Georgia in 2005, then became a licensed real estate agent in Charleston, South Carolina, selling resort communities for Creative Communities, a Florida-based developer. She joined Coldwell Banker at Lake Oconee in 2010, and in 2012 she ran the on-site sales desk at The Waterfront on Lake Oconee when Coldwell Banker took over sales there. Her career sales now exceed $100 million.

She holds two Lake Oconee sales records. In February 2024 she sold a Sandy Creek waterfront home for $3,738,000, the highest price on record for a waterfront home outside the lake's gated golf communities. That same month she sold a Beaverdam homesite for $1,400,000, the highest price ever paid for a homesite outside the gates. Between November 2024 and August 2025 she closed three more sales above $3 million, all inside Reynolds Lake Oconee. She also represented both sides of the sale of more than 100 acres of development land next to Harbor Club.

Her business splits roughly evenly between the gated communities of Reynolds Lake Oconee, Harbor Club and Del Webb and the non-gated shoreline of Greene, Putnam and Morgan counties, from Greensboro and Eatonton to Buckhead and White Plains. She sells homes, homesites, farms and acreage at every price point.

Margie grew up in Greensboro, where her family owned one of the earliest lots in what is now Reynolds Lake Oconee, and she spent childhood summers swimming off the old docks at Granite Shoals.
