About John

John came to real estate from an unusual direction. For fifteen years, he worked as a software developer and engineering manager, including time at Microsoft building security infrastructure for Xbox Live. That background gave him a systematic, analytical way of approaching problems, the habit of thinking in terms of causes, dependencies, and verifiable outcomes rather than guesswork.

Starting in 2010, John began financing and building homes in Austin, eventually completing more than 50 of them. This is not a minor detail in his bio: it means he has direct, hands-on experience with construction that most agents simply don't have. He knows what a load-bearing wall does because he's built one, not because he's read about one.

Those two backgrounds, systems-level engineering and hands-on residential construction, now form the basis of his work at Heart of Austin Homes, where he serves as co-founder and agent. He has closed more than 400 transactions and holds over 110 five-star reviews, along with four professional credentials: CNE, ABR, TRLS, SRES and SRS.

The practical value of this combination is obvious. Most agents can describe a house. John can explain why the HVAC system is undersized, whether a "recent renovation" was actually done to code, and what condition the foundation is in because he has built and financed homes himself, not just toured them. For buyers and sellers, that means getting technical clarity instead of surface-level reassurance.

Taken together, his career reflects a consistent thread rather than a series of unrelated jobs: an engineer's precision applied to problems, followed by direct construction experience, followed by real estate work that draws on both. The result is an agent fluent in the language of software professionals, the language of contractors, and the language of the transaction itself — a combination that's genuinely rare in residential real estate.
